17-year-old girl murdered in small town, broad daylight shooting: Police – NBC Chicago

A 17-year-old girl was killed Friday afternoon in a shooting in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood in broad daylight, police said.

On the 2500 block of South Kolin at about 3:04 p.m., officials said the teen was near a business parking lot when she was approached by a man on a bicycle who pulled out a gun and fired shots.

The girl was beaten in the torso area and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Police said they took a person of interest “to an area” for questioning on Friday night. Area detectives are investigating.
