30 West 39th Street’s Exterior Progress Continues in Midtown, Manhattan

Work is continuing on 30 West 39th Streeta 27-story hotel tower in MidtownManhattan. Designed by Peter Poon Architects and developed by Fortuna Realtythe 323-foot-tall structure will yield 330 guest rooms spread across 133,500 square feet. Leeding Builders Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, just one block south of Bryant Park.

Since our last update in early January, construction has progressed on the terraces at the top of the building and above the podium setbacks. The top of the hotel and the glass curtain wall facing West 39th Street are largely finished, as are the blank gray walls on the eastern and western elevations.

The majority of the remaining exterior work is now focused on the podium and bottom floors. A new glass railing has been installed above the ground floor and sidewalk scaffolding. Above that is a partially exposed ceiling lined with perimeter columns, and a double-height mechanical floor enclosed with several rectangular ventilation grilles, which are surrounded by a uniform skin of dark gray metal panels. Sidewalk scaffolding still obscures the ground floor.
