Bears rookie takes on two takeaways in first preseason game that originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Bears’ linebacker and Illinois native Jack Sanborn makes the most of his preseason snaps.
Sanborn registered an interception from backup quarterback Shane Buechele in the first possession of the Chiefs’ second half. Two Chiefs possessions later, Sanborn recovered a fumble from Derrick Gore’s run back.
Roquan Smith’s ongoing contract issues have raised questions about the linebacker’s position for the Bears. Sanborn is making the most of his preseason by showing the team he can help fill the void.
Sanborn, 22, signed as an unregistered free agent with the University of Wisconsin. He grew up in Deer Park, Illinois, in high school on Lake Zurich.
