Broken Bells Announce ‘Into The Blue’ And Release Single

The last Broken Bells album was from 2014 After the disco† The duo, consisting of Danger Mouse’s Brian Burton and The Shins’ James Mercer, are finally back with the highly anticipated sequel, In the blue† This announcement comes with the release of the lead single “We’re Not In Orbit Yet…”

The album’s release date has not yet been announced, but details will follow. “We’re Not In Orbit Yet…” has a trippy, hypnotic vibe, moving at an unhurried pace and infused with ethereal vocals and synths. It stays true to the Bee Gees-meets-psychedelic-dance-rock sound of their previous material.

About After the discohad told the band rolling stone“What people in the fifties and sixties thought it would be now. Then we made the record: a lot came of that.”

This vibe was evident on that album, and it seems like it could seep into this new one as well. Their dedication to old-school music has always been apparent, especially when they played The Beatles’ “And I Love Her” on The Late Show with David Letterman with Ringo Starr on the drums.
