Camille Vazquez: disappointed about sexist assumptions of her relationship with Johnny Depp

Attorney Camille Vazquez has been getting a lot of press after successfully representing actor Johnny Depp in the defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard in which he came out as a victor and “cleared his name” after the fact that she suggested that she was living under domestic abuse.

A Good relationship can lead to friendship and nothing more

During the trial, Johnny Depp and her had a good and professional relationship where they clearly sympathize with each other because the trial was going their way, and while they were expressing some sort of happiness, the media immediately said that they had something between them hinting as if it were a romantic involvement.

She was interviewed about her thoughts on the rumors

Camille was interviewed by People Magazine and this is what she said, “I guess it comes with the territory of being a woman just doing her job,”

She continued “It’s disappointing that certain outlets kind of ran with it or said that my interactions with Johnny-who is a friend and I’ve known and represented for four-and-a-half years now-that my interactions in any way were inappropriate or unprofessional. That’s disappointing to hear.”

It comes with the territory, I was not surprised at all, but it is very disappointing

She was very dissapointed

This was clearly a mistake, first because Alvarez had always acted professionally since Depp was her client and secondly she was in a serious relationship with another man.

She comes from a culture that expresses physical affection

“I care very deeply about my clients, and we have obviously become close,” she added. “But when I say we, I mean the entire team, and of course that includes Johnny. And, I’m Cuban and Colombian. I’m tactile. What do you want me to say? I hug everyone. And I’m not ashamed about that.”

Misogynistic media

It is very clear that in media outlets where the editorial decisions are taken from a misogynistic and sexist standpoint the minimum expression of friendship and care is always misinterpreted just for traffic.
