Charfield murder probe: Tribute to ‘excellent father’ Marcus Dunkerton who died from stab wound

Tributes have been paid to a man described by his family as an “excellent father” following his death three days ago. Marcus Dunkerton died in his home from a stab wound on Friday, June 24, and a man has been charged with murder.

Mr Dunkerton, who lived in Charfield in South Gloucestershirewas a father and step-father as well as a much-loved son. The man accused of murdering him appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court earlier today.

In a statement released via police today, the 40-year-old’s partner, parents and other family members said: “No words will ever be able to express the deep sadness and loss that we feel as a family.

“Marcus was a much-loved son, brother, partner, father, step-father, uncle and son-in-law who was very much loved by us all.

“He was an excellent father. We are heartbroken. He will leave a huge hole in our lives and will be greatly missed. We ask that people respect our privacy at what continues to be a very difficult time for ourselves and all those who knew Marcus.”

Mr Dunkerton died at his home in Thames Close, Charfield. His family are being supported by specially-trained officers.

Grant Bradley, 46, of Blackwell Street, Kidderminster, appeared before Bristol Magistrates’ Court today, Monday June 27, charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon. He was remanded in custody pending an appearance at Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday 29 June.
