Charlotte Hornets’ Miles Bridges arrested in Los Angeles on eve of free agency

Charlotte Hornets attacker Miles Bridges was arrested in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon, a Los Angeles police spokeswoman confirmed to The Associated Press on Thursday.

The LAPD has not released details about the charges and the Hornets have not commented on the news of Bridges’ arrest.

TMZ reported that Bridges is accused of domestic violence.

Bridges, the Hornets’ top scorer last season, will be a limited free agent and could force a maximum contract in the coming weeks. The news comes on the eve of NBA free agency, which kicks off Thursday night with teams able to talk to free agents.

Bridges, 24, last season achieved career average highs with 20.2 points and 7.0 rebounds in what amounted to a breakout season for the four-year NBA veteran while playing alongside All-Star point guard LaMelo Ball.

Bridges, who played in Michigan State, is also a rapper who goes by the name RTB MB.

The Hornets expanded Bridges a qualifying offer on Tuesday, giving them a chance to match any other team’s offer sheet.

“As an organization, we love Miles,” Hornets director Mitch Kupchak said on Tuesday. “We’re going to bring him back. He’s been great for the franchise and I believe his work ethic will only make him better.”

Although the 6-foot-7, 225-pound player, who was the 12th pick in the 2018 NBA draft, said after the season that he wanted to return to the Hornets, Bridges recently changed his Twitter bio from “forward for the Charlotte Hornets” to ‘It’s Me’.
