College football picks against the spread: Stewart Mandel’s Week 6 picks

After a second straight week of +.500, I’m wading into a slate where seemingly every spread is huge (Auburn-Georgia, Texas A&M-Alabama) or small (Tennessee-LSU, Utah-UCLA), with very little in between.

Last week: 6-5 against the spread

Season: 29-26 against the spread

Texas (-7) vs. Oklahoma in Dallas, 12 noon (ABC)

It’s the first Red River game since 1998 in which neither Oklahoma nor Texas rank, and yet the subplots are fascinating. Is Quinn Ewers coming back for Texas? What about OU’s Dillon Gabriel? Can the same Sooners defense that has been blasted for the past two weeks stop Bijan Robinson? Oklahoma is coming in, but it won’t allow total disaster.

Texas 38, Oklahoma 34Choose: Oklahoma + 7

No. 8 Tennessee (-3) at No. 25
