‘Community’ Movie About Peacock: Cast, Release Date, Spoilers

Community is about to fulfill its #SixSeasonsAndAMovie prophecy.

Peacock announced on Friday that it has the green light Community the movie, seven years after the 2015 series finale of the cult classic. (For those who keep the score at home, it is Community: 1, The cloak: 0.)

The sequel to the feature film will reunite stars Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong. Original cast members Donald Glover, Yvette Nicole Brown and Chevy Chase are not included. (In response to the news, Brown tweeted: “It happened! Congratulations, #Community fans! You did this!”)

Series creator Dan Harmon is co-writing the film with former series writer Andrew Guest (whose credits include fan-favorite episodes “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons” and “A Fistful of Paintballs”). They will executive produce along with McHale, Russ Krasnoff and Gary Foster. The film is to be released in 2023.

“‘Six seasons and a movie’ started as a cheeky line from Communityearly seasons and quickly sparked a passionate fan movement for this iconic, hilarious and cool (cool, cool) NBC comedy,” NBC Universal Television’s chairman of Entertainment Susan Rovner said in a statement. “We are incredibly grateful to be able to deliver this film promised to fans 15 years later and can’t wait to team up with Dan Harmon, Andrew Guest, Joel McHale, Sony and our partners at UTV to continue this epic comedy. for peacock audiences.”

Plot details are being kept secret for now. The press release only states that: Community the movie is derived “from the TV series that predicted its own movie,” making it “the least predictable movie of a TV series that references a lot of movies and TV.”

The announcement also confirms that the original run of Community will be available to stream on Peacock on an unspecified date as part of a non-exclusive streaming deal. All six seasons are currently available on Hulu, Netflix and Prime Video.
