Demi Lovato Gets Out With Musician Jute$.
The pair were spotted holding hands outside the celebrity hotspot Lavo in New York City on Tuesday. The ‘Skin of My Teeth’ singer, dressed in a leather jacket and plaid skirt, had a smile on her face as they intertwined their fingers.
Lovato has been in NYC for a three-day takeover on the Tonight Show to promote her latest album, Holy Fvck, which comes out Friday. Jute$ — a Canadian artist whose real name is Jordan Lutes — collaborated with her on the song “Substance,” which is about her addiction struggle.
The tattooed Jute$ praised her performance in an Instagram post Wednesday, writing: “Sheeeesh best voice in the game, by a lot. You killed the rockstar @ddlovato. substance on @jimmyfallon last night. Grateful to be a part of this one .”
He ended the post with, “ps you’re fucking hot.”
Lovato replied, “Thank you, my love.”
Jute$ called “Substance” “one of my favorite songs I’ve ever worked on” last month. Shortly after, he shared a photo of them on vacation with friends. Lovato, who turns 30 Saturday, jumped into the comments and reminisced about the trip. From there, speculation grew about their relationship status.
A Lovato representative did not immediately respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for confirmation about the apparent link. But last week, a source close to the singer told “Sorry Not Sorry” People magazine Lovato in a “happy and healthy relationship” with a fellow musician. His name was announced at the time, but he was described as ‘a super awesome guy’.
Earlier this month, Lovato addressed her gender pronouns, saying on the The Syringe Podcast, “I have taken the pronouns from her/her again.” After Lovato came out as non-binary in May 2021, Lovato used she/them before.
While Lovato sings about her addition struggles on this album, she said late last month that four years after her near-fatal overdose, she “rarely” thinks about using drugs. After a period of “California sober” last year, she returned to treatment in December to get “sober sober” again.
Prior to the release of Holy Fvcksaid Lovato: “Never have I been so sure of myself and my music.” She said the new record “speaks for itself.” Another song on the album, “29”, seems to be calling out her ex Wilmer Valderrama because of their age difference. They met when she was 17 and he was 29 and they started dating the following year. The relationship lasted six years and ended in 2016.
Lovato was also briefly engaged to Young and restless actor Max Ehrich in 2020 – and long ago she dated Joe Jonas and Trace Cyrus.
