A departing Trump aide broke an air-conditioning unit by stuffing copies of photos of Hunter Biden, the son of then-to-be President Joe Biden, into the vents, according to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman in her new book.
The bizarre act is said to have taken place in the waning days of Donald Trump’s presidency as his aides prepared (or in some cases tried to impede) the transition to Joe Biden’s administration, Politico reported Friday, citing an advance from the forthcoming “Confidence Man”.
The stunt happened when Trump himself continued to baselessly disprove the results of the 2020 election. Hunter Biden was a frequent target of right-wing anger in the run-up to the vote.
An unnamed staffer who worked for John McEntee, the director of Trump’s presidential personnel office, was responsible for the photo incident, Haberman said. It has not been reported how much the unit costs to repair.
Assistants in Bill Clinton’s administration reportedly caused thousands of dollars in damage as they left the White House for the George W. Bush presidency, including the mysterious case of the missing “W” on multiple computer keyboards.
