DreamWorks Animation updates the series of opening logos with some familiar faces.
In the new series, the iconic DreamWorks moon-fishing kid leaves his post to travel the galaxy, taking on characters from popular franchises such as “The Bad Guys,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” “Boss Baby,” ‘ Kung Fu Panda,” “Shrek” and more. The journey concludes with appearances by Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey before the child returns to the moon, starting from the classic logo graphics that DreamWorks is known for.
The new sequence will play for the first time ahead of DreamWorks’ upcoming release, “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” when it hits theaters December 21.
The new range has been developed and produced by a creative team including producer Suzanne Buirgy and production designer Kendall Cronkhite. The music was composed by Harry Gregson-Williams, who worked on the “Shrek” franchise along with other DreamWorks Animation films.
While the upcoming “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” will be widely released on Dec. 21, families hoping to see the movie early over Thanksgiving weekend can catch a limited screening of the movie — including the new theatrical opener. — on November 26 at 2 p.m. local time, with tickets now available at select theaters.
In addition to the new “Puss in Boots”, DreamWorks is preparing a third film in the “Trolls” franchise, which will be released on November 17, 2023. A fourth “Kung Fu Panda” movie starring Jack Black is scheduled for a March 8, 2024 release.
