It will see Wakanda mourn the loss of its king and previous Black Panther T’Challa, who was played by Chadwick Boseman. The actor died of colon cancer in 2020, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige promised Boseman would not be replaced in the role.

The film will reveal how the once isolationist nation must fight to protect the delivery of ultra-rare element vibranium of intermediate world powers, even as Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) mourn the death of T’Challa.

It’s unclear who the next Black Panther will be, but Shuri and Nakia seem like the most likely candidates.

New to the MCU are Namor the Submariner (Tenoch Huerta), who rules the underwater kingdom of Talocan and is a mutant like the X-Menand Riri Williams/Ironheart (Dominique Thorne), a genius teenage inventor who makes the most advanced armor since Iron Man and gets her own Disney Plus show in 2023.

Wakanda Forever Brings Phase 4 of the MCU to an endand Phase 5 starts with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania next February. Stages 4, 5 and 6 will tell the collective story known as The Multiverse Saga, mirroring Phase 1, 2 and 3’s Infinity Saga.
