Ice Spice shares her relationship status and why female rap is doing so well in an interview with Erykah Badu

Ice Spice is the artist everyone wants to get to know. So much so that music legend Erykah Badu agreed to sit down with the 22-year-old to discuss her upbringing, the current state of female rap, her relationship status and more.

Ice Spice and 51-year-old Badu were joined by Badu’s daughter Puma Curry. Curry put her mom on Spice’s music, including her viral debut single “Munch”, which Badu loves.

We listen to ‘Munch’ for lunch.

Spice took the time to explain the meaning behind the viral adjective.

A munch is basically like an eater – someone obsessed with you. It can also be a hater.

“Like a whore. A whore,’ Badu replied.

Ice Spice shared her rap inspirations and revealed her dream collaboration

The 22-year-old revealed that she looks to her surroundings for inspiration when it comes to writing music. Plus, she keeps the artistry of legends like Lil’ Kim, Nicki Minaj, Foxy Brown, and Remy Ma at the forefront.

They are all huge sources of inspiration for me… I live for the girls.

One of Spice’s sources of inspiration is also her dream collaboration: Queen’s rap star Nicki Minaj.

I have to say Nicki because that’s just like, duh.

“I’m surprised Nicki hasn’t jumped on ‘Munch’ yet,” Badu replies.

She would eat that shit too. But another dream collaboration is Doja Cat.

The “Munch” rapper also revealed her dream date and shared her relationship status

When asked what her dream night would be, the Bronx rapper said she’s a homebody.

I don’t really like doing things like this in public, especially now. My dream date is chilling alone at home. We are just smoking, eating, watching movies. This is how you get to know someone better.

The “Bikini Bottom” rapper revealed that she is, in fact, single, but says she doesn’t go out on dates.

I don’t go out on dates because I don’t like being in public with people like that. I’m just having fun and I’m young, period.

Ice Spice also spoke about the state of female rap

Even Badu confirmed that the rap girls are “the [music] industry across the board.”

“Why do you think that is?” she asked Ice Spice.

Because we’re as pretty as an asshole. Girls are just easier to watch. If there [are] ten guys in the room, only one girl, we’re all going to look at the girl. We just have this goddess energy about us and the guys don’t have that extra feeling. However, they are cool.

The “Euphoric” rapper also told Badu and Curry that fans can expect a “new body of work” in 2023.

It will have drill marks, it will have a fall. Maybe there’s a surprise in there. And hopefully a feature, but if not, it’s going to eat anyway. And there are also fire images associated with it.

Housemates, what do you think of this sit-down?
