Lisa Riley has delighted fans by revealing when Emmerdale fans can expect to see her back on screen as Mandy Dingle. Supporters of the actress, who has been playing the loud, leopard-blown character in the ITV soap to and from for 27 years, have not been seen in the Dales for a while.
Fans were worried about the soap star as she did not perform at the British Soap Awards earlier this month. Her family on screen, the Dingle clan, took the award for best family, while Emmerdale received the night’s grand prize for best soap.
Her co-star James Hooton, who plays Sam Dingle in the Leeds-based soap, went on stage to receive Dingle’s award, he mentioned that Lisa’s absence was due to a “family problem” and she was doing well. However, she had already been on social media to tell that she had suffered a heartbreaking loss.

In an Instagram post, the Bury-born star told fans that her Nana had sadly passed away. “We know that today will be the hardest day, we lean on each other, you are now at peace, yet we all yearn for your energy around the house,” she said. “God has got another angel. May you light up the sky with your warmth and your infectious smile. I will try to be strong for both of us.”
But now, in her latest post on social media, Lisa confirmed that she had spent a day filming in a sunny Emmerdale village as well as spending time filming another secret project.
The 45-year-old looked stunning and far away from her alter-ego Mandy as she kept her dark locks down and stright with minimal make-up while wearing a pair of glasses. nice day in the studio in Emmerdale now on the way in the car, down south to film something else, for the day… ..should be a REALLY good giggle, I look forward. “
And fans were thrilled to hear she had been back filming in the village. @ erinb2804 said, “Can’t wait to see Mandy back in Emmerdale.” @ isles1978 commented: “Miss Mandy in Emmerdale, but I hope you are well.” @willsparsons wrote: “Miss you in emmerdale it’s not the same.”
But @ ryanmaddock1980 was quick to ask, “When are you back at Emmerdale, you haven’t been in it in a while,” to which Lisa replied, “Mid-July.”
Although Lisa was not at the British Soap Awards, she was quick to share her pride. Lisa took to Instagram with a snap from a scene where her character Mandy is in a fight with Chas, played by Lucy Pargeter, and said: “CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR DINGLE FAMILY @thebritishsoapawards @emmerdale, just an average day for ‘DINGLES’- the end in the street. I am and will always be proud to be a DINGLE !!! Dear family WINNERS … voted by you viewers. “
So when Emmerdale scooped the night’s top gong, she shared: CONGRATULATIONS to our entire cast-crew-production-writers-directors-EVERY department !!!! We did it. Winners of best soap yes yes yes @emmerdale TEAM TEAM TEAM. “
