Man arrested in Beaver River fatal truck overturn

RCMP has arrested a man accused of driving a truck into the Beaver River last month, killing a woman.

On August 24, around 6:00 PM, Meadow Lake RCMP received a report of a vehicle submerged in the Beaver River off Highway 903.

Officers arrived on the scene and found an injured man standing on top of the sunken vehicle. He was taken to hospital. A day later, RCMP reported that a woman who was also in the vehicle was missing.

When the truck was removed from the river, a 20-year-old woman from the Dillon area was found dead. A loaded gun was also found in the truck.

Bryan Janvier, 36, of Dillon, was charged with dangerous use of a motor vehicle resulting in death, driving with a disability, driving with disabilities in excess of 80mg resulting in death and a number of gun charges.

In a release Tuesday, RCMP says Janvier has been arrested at a house on Cold Lake First Nation in Alberta. Janvier will appear in Meadow Lake County Court on Thursday.
