New Details Emerge on the premise for NBC’s Fall Reboot

We’re finally getting a clearer picture of NBC’s upcoming Quantum Leap Restart.

On Wednesday, the network announced that the series will premiere on Monday, September 19 at 10/9c (for now The voice† Coinciding with that news, more details about the plot were shared.

Previously, in addition to any character breakdowns, it was only said that “it’s been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett (played by Scott Bakula in the original series) got into the Quantum Leap accelerator and disappeared. Now a new team has been assembled.” to restart the project in hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who made it.”

But as released this week by NBC, a more thorough recap makes it clear what the entire cast of characters back home is up to, as the new Leaper… jumps:

“It’s been nearly 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett got into the Quantum Leap accelerator and disappeared. Now a new team, led by physicist Ben Song (played by Kevin can fuck herself‘s Raymond Lee), was put together to reboot the project in hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who made it.

However, everything changes when Ben makes an unauthorized jump into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it. At Ben’s side during his jumps is Addison (Caitlin Bassett), who appears in the form of a hologram that only Ben can see and hear. She is a decorated army veteran who brings sober precision to her work.”

“At the helm of the highly confidential operation is Herbert ‘Magic’ Williams (Grace and Frankie‘s Ernie Hudson), a no-nonsense military man answerable to his bosses who won’t be happy to hear about the protocol violation. (Magic is also obviously an older adult version of a character Sam Beckett interacted with in Vietnam at the time.) The rest of the team at HQ is Ian Wright (Cowboy Bebop‘s Mason Alexander Park), who leads the artificial intelligence unit “Ziggy”, and Jenn Chou (Bosch‘s Narisa Lee), who is in charge of digital security for the project.”

“As Ben jumps from life to life and right what once went wrong, it becomes clear that he and the team are on an exciting journey. However, Addison, Magic, Ian and Jenn know that if they want to solve the mystery of Ben’s jump and bring him home, they must act quickly or lose him forever.”

Writing duo Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt (God befriended meGotham) will write the reboot and executive production along with Don Bellisario and Deborah Pratt (who served as writers on the OG show) and Martin Gero (Stargate: Atlantiskung fu
