The late rapper Coolio called his longtime girlfriend Mimi Ivey earlier this week seeking help finding his passport.
At the time, Ivey didn’t think much about it, other than the fact that her boyfriend, Artis Leon Ivey Jr., who is best known by his stage name, Coolio, needed some help with his job.
The couple lived together in Las Vegas.
She said Coolio was in Los Angeles to visit his daughter and son.
“I’m sorry I woke you up, I get that you’re tired, I love you, I’ll call you back, make sure you pick up your phone,” Coolio told Ivey. “He knows I turn off my bell at night. He says, ‘I’ll call you back, love you and that’s it.'”
Sadly, the artist passed away later that day at the age of 59. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
The Los Angeles Police Department has said it does not believe foul play was involved.
“At the end of the day he was my go to. I was his go to when he needed something, he called me. He told me everything, his deepest darkest secrets. I was his best friend and he trusted me,” Ivey told CBSLA reporter Lauren Pozen.
Ivey said family was extremely important to the late rapper.
After the COVID-19 pandemic halted concerts and outdoor performances, Coolio had complained that he had to get outside and tour again.
he was on top of the world he did what he loved he toured the whole neighborhood all he talked about was a man cant wait to get out and about again.
“He was on top of the world, he did what he loved, he toured the whole quarantine and all he talked about was a man. I can’t wait to get back on the road,” said Ivey.
