Peel police hold emergency drill at high school in Brampton

Peel Regional Police are advising the public that an emergency drill will take place today at a Brampton high school.

Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Peel Regional Paramedic Services and Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services will join police forces to “simulate” a critical incident at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School.

Residents and businesses near the school, which is in the Torbram Road and Central Park Drive area, can count on a large emergency response service between 9am and 3pm.

“A key pillar of the Peel Regional Police’s strategic plan is working with our emergency response partners to sharpen our collective capacity to respond to large-scale and complex emergencies,” it said in a statement.

Police say more than 100 community volunteers are also participating as role players in the exercise, which they say is “designed to test existing procedures and identify areas for improvement.”

Motorists in the area may experience some delay during the exercise, police said.
