Police seek public help in finding suspect in Villeray moords murder

Montreal police investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect believed to have been involved in the seventh homicide slated to take place on the island in 2022.

Steven Marques, 46, was gunned down just before 11pm on April 16 on the corner of St-Laurent Blvd. and Jean-Talon St. in the commune of Villeray-St-Michel-Parc-Extension.

Two suspects fled south on foot when Marques collapsed to the ground. He was quickly transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A prime suspect, Marcus Barthelus, was arrested on May 12. He appeared at the Montreal courthouse the next day.

The second suspect is a thin man with short dark hair. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing dark pants and a checked shirt with a black hood.

Montreal police released footage of the suspect captured by surveillance cameras.
