Rayne Aylward in court charged with murder after Casino stabbing

An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder over the stabbing death of a 17-year-old boy in northern New South Wales.

Casino teenager Rayne William Aylward did not apply for bail, and it was formally refused, when he appeared at Lismore Local Court on Monday.

Police allege Mr Aylward visited the home of the 17-year-old in the early hours of Saturday morning and stabbed him in the neck.

The boy died at the scene.

Police say his parents were home when the alleged attack happened.

A crime scene was established at the home where officers searched the surrounding area with the dog unit.

It is the second fatal alleged stabbing of a teenager in the regional town in less than a month.

The state’s homicide squad has been called in to assist local police with the investigation.

Mr Aylford is due to appear before court for a mention on August 24.
