School districts go virtual, reschedule football games ahead of Hurricane Ian – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — Metro Atlanta school districts are taking precautions to protect their students from the potential impact of Hurricane Ian on the area.

Clayton County Schools have decided to hold a virtual learning day on Friday. Employees and students work and learn remotely.

A long list of school districts has also moved their football games scheduled for Friday night to Thursday night.

Public Schools in Atlanta

BEST Academy vs. Mount Paran Christian is moved to Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Henderson Stadium in Atlanta

Mays vs. Creekside Moves to Thursday at 8pm at Henderson Stadium in Atlanta

Douglas vs. Jackson rescheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Red Devil Hill Stadium in Jackson, GA

therell vs. Washington is moved to Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Atlanta’s Lakewood Stadium

South Atlanta vs. KIPP Atlanta Collegiate Rescheduled for Thursday at 8:00 PM at Lakewood Stadium in Atlanta

Schools in Barrow County

Apalachee High School in Shiloh and Winder-Barrow High School in Jefferson have moved their games to Thursday.

Cherokee County Schools

All three Homecoming varsity football games are rescheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m., including:

Creekview High School vs Etowah High School

Sequoyah High School vs River Ridge High School

Woodstock High School vs. Rome High School

Clayton County Schools

Jonesboro vs Mundy’s Mill is moved to Thursday at 7:00 PM at Hines Ward Field/Tara Stadium.

Lovejoy vs Woodward Academy moves to Thursday at 7:00 PM at 12 Oaks Stadium.

Morrow’s Homecoming Game vs Alcovy is moved to Thursday at 7:00 PM at Morrow High School.

Junior Varsity games will be moved to Wednesday or the last week of the season.

DeKalb County Schools

All games scheduled for Friday-evening will be moved to Thursday, including Lithonia High School vs. Arabia Mountain at 7pm

Haralson County Schools

Haralson County Homecoming Game Rescheduled to Thursday at 7:30 PM

Newton County Schools

Both Eastside High School and Newton High School have moved their games from Friday to Thursday.

Paulding County Schools

Football games for all five high schools have been moved to Thursday.

Rockdale County Schools

Rockdale County High School vs. Forest Park will be moved to Thursday at 6:00 PM

Salem High School vs. Hepzibah will be moved to Thursday at 19:00
