Severe thunderstorm warning issued for southeast Alberta

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for southeastern Alberta Saturday evening.

An emergency warning in Alberta was issued at about 6:15 p.m., with Environment Canada reporting “very dangerous” thunderstorms in Territory 4 near Kirriemuir and Bodeau.

The storm could bring strong winds, heavy rain and hail the size of baseballs or larger.

Environment Canada said all thunderstorms could be accompanied by severe lightning and tornadoes are possible.

Anyone in the area should evacuate immediately if dangerous weather approaches.

A tornado warning was issued for the same area around 5:15 p.m. but was lifted just before 6 p.m.
