Smile trailer reveals an eerie curse accompanied by a laugh

This summer is full of blockbuster action, but the horror genre has not been left out. This week alone, The black phone will terrorize the audience with a supernatural twist. And later in the summer, Paramount’s Smile will reveal an old-fashioned curse. In a recently released trailer, we see Smile‘s curse unfolds when a psychologist, Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon), inadvertently becomes the latest victim. Through her eyes, we witness some of the most eerie laughs in recent cinema history. And unfortunately for Rose, this curse only ends with her death.

There certainly seem to be some similarities in between Smile and previous horror films such as It follows and The ring. This particular curse seems to infect those who witness it, and almost no one who catches it lives longer than a week. A lone exception is a man behind bars. But once the prisoner realizes that Rose has also been cursed, he can not get away from her fast enough.

An eerie moment from Smile.

Here is the official synopsis of the movie, courtesy of Paramount Pictures:

“After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic event involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) begins to experience frightening events that she can not explain. As an overwhelming terror begins to take over her life, Rose must confront its troubling past in order to survive and escape its terrifying new reality. “

The boysJessie T. Usher also stars in the film with Kyle Gallner, Robin Weigert, Caitlin Stasey, Kal Penn and Rob Morgan. Given the circumstances of this film, there are high odds that most of their characters will not reach the final texts.
