Suspect arrested in Dowling’s murder – Sudbury News

Dowling man Gabriel Paul Richards, 72, was found dead in a home on Sturgeon Street in Dowling Wednesday morning, and a man known to him has been arrested for murder.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Gabriel Paul Richards, 72, of Dowling.

The accused was arrested by Greater Sudbury Police Service personnel earlier today and is scheduled to appear for his bail hearing tomorrow, according to a media statement.

The police have not released the identities of the defendants because the information before the courts has not yet been divided. The suspected murder is being investigated as a single incident, where the suspect and the victim know each other. Police Report No public safety concern.

Police were dispatched to the Sturgeon Street residence in Dowling at about 10:55 a.m. Wednesday in response to a call about a man who had lost consciousness.

The man, now identified as Richards, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In an earlier media statement, the police indicated that “based on evidence collected at the crime scene and injuries from blunt force discovered after death conducted through the coroner’s office,” the incident is being investigated as a murder.

Investigators toured the area to obtain information and video surveillance footage.
