A terrible crash has killed three people along Highway 3, in Crowsnest Pass, east of Sparwood, BC

A press release from the Elk Valley RCMP said that on Monday, June 6, around 1 p.m. At 2.30pm, a westbound SUV was trying to pass as it collided head-on with an eastbound tractor-trailer.

The collision of the collision caused the full-size white SUV to overturn and burst into flames almost instantly.

Witnesses at the scene rescued the truck driver out of his vehicle before it was also consumed by the fire. They were unable to get to anyone inside the other car.

BC RCMP Division’s media relations officer, Sergeant Chris Manseau Quick, says the SUV was later determined to have three deceased occupants inside.

The highway was blocked for several hours after the accident.

Elk Valley RCMP and BC Coroner Service continue to investigate the collision.
