Toni Collette announces divorce from her husband as pictures of him kissing another woman

Toni Collette and her husband are going their separate ways after 20 years of marriage.

The stowaway The actress, 50, announced her split from Dave Galafassi, 44, on Instagram on Wednesday, less than a week after her return to the platform.

Collette shared a statement on behalf of both her and her estranged husband, saying, “It is with grace and gratitude that we announce that we are separating.”

“We are united in our decision and part ways with continued respect and care for each other,” the statement continued, which she shared alongside a photo of a floral arrangement that read “PEACE & LOVE.”

They added that their children – 14-year-old daughter Sage Florence and 11-year-old son Arlo Robert – are their priorities.

“Our children are of the utmost importance to us and we will continue to thrive as a family, albeit in a different form.”

Ending with a note of thanks, they wrote, “We are grateful for the space and love you are bestowing upon us as we evolve and move through this transition peacefully. Many thanks.”

Prior to the announcement, Collette shared a quote on her Instagram story that read, “Whatever your current circumstances, if you can imagine something better for yourself, you can create it.”

Collette’s post comes as photos of Galafassi and another woman kissing on a beach in Sydney, Australia, surfaced the day before. The daily mail published the photos that also show the musician and the woman sitting together, holding hands in the water and sharing several kisses.

Collette representatives did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. A Galfassi representative could not be located immediately.

Collette and Galfassi were married in 2003 in a Buddhist ceremony.

They welcomed Sage in January 2008 after she announced her pregnancy last summer.

“We’re over the moon,” she told the Associated Press at the time.

“It’s strange, the last three films I’ve done I’ve been pregnant,” added Colette. “I’m like, what is the universe trying to tell me? But I think everything happens when it’s meant to.”

Arlo Robert was then born in Australia in April 2011.
